- Stage 1 (Merit Calculation): No written exam or interview. Merit is prepared from the aggregate percentage of all subjects in Class 10th, calculated up to four decimal places.
- Stage 2 (Circle Wise Provisional List): The auto-generated merit list is published circle-wise and language-wise, based on the Division / Sub-Division / Unit preferences exercised during registration.
- Stage 3 (Document Verification): Shortlisted candidates are called by the Divisional Office to verify original Class 10th marksheet, local language proof, computer certificate, caste / EWS / PwD certificate and photo identity.
- Stage 4 (Final Engagement): Only candidates clearing verification receive the engagement offer for the concerned Branch Office; unverified or non-reporting candidates forfeit their claim.

- Class 10th marksheet and passing certificate (Date of Birth proof and merit calculation basis).
- Class 10th marksheet showing the local language as a compulsory or elective subject.
- Computer knowledge certificate (DoEACC O Level / NIELIT CCC or equivalent).
- Valid Caste / EWS / PwD certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format.
- Recent passport-size photograph, scanned signature and government-issued Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID or Passport).
- Printed copy of the submitted online application with registration number and fee receipt.

- Open the official India Post GDS portal indiapostgdsonline.gov.in or use the direct merit list link given below on SarkariExam.pro.
- On the home page, locate the Merit List / Result section for the current GDS engagement cycle.
- Select your postal circle (state) and the applicable local language from the drop-down options.
- Click the PDF link — the provisional merit list opens in a new window.
- Press Ctrl + F and enter your registration number to locate your name and allotted division instantly.
- Download and save the PDF, then take a printout for document verification.
- If your name appears, watch the divisional notice board and registered mobile number / email for the verification schedule.
- Report with all original documents on the allotted date; candidates failing to appear are treated as not interested.

- Other Backward Classes (OBC - Non Creamy Layer): 3 Years relaxation in the upper age limit. Candidates must present a valid OBC-NCL certificate issued within the prescribed financial year by a competent revenue authority.
- Scheduled Castes (SC) & Scheduled Tribes (ST): 5 Years upper age relaxation along with complete exemption from application examination fees in accordance with Central / State Government reservation policies.
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% reservation in direct recruitment vacancies for eligible candidates holding a valid EWS Income & Asset Certificate issued by an authorized Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Officer.
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 Years age relaxation for UR/EWS, 13 Years for OBC, and 15 Years for SC/ST categories, including scribe facility provisions as per RPwD Act 2016.
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Deduction of actual military service rendered from the candidate's age plus an additional 3 years relaxation, subject to fulfilling minimum service norms.
